Singing Alleluia/Luke 24:1-12

Come Easter, we will sing “Alleluia!” We buried the Alleluias during the Lenten season to remind ourselves of the solemn period of repentance and reflection on human suffering. However, we know that our faith story doesn’t end there, but with Easter. God is love; and the power of love will triumph over death. For indeed, there is nothing in our world, not even death, that can separate us from God’s love. This is the Easter message.

The women who came to the empty tomb met messengers who said, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.”  They were overjoyed and shared this good news with others. When we look around the world, we feel assaulted by the news of grief, death and destruction. We hear very little good news. In times like these we don’t feel like singing “Alleluia!”

Come this Sunday and listen to the good news of God’s power of resurrection.

Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed. Let us celebrate and witness together the joy of life. God is creating something new in our world. Amen.
