PC(USA) Special Offerings
Throughout the year, WPPC supports PC(USA)’s four church-wide Special Offerings help share Christ’s love with people around the world. Presbyterian Special Offerings (pcusa.org). The church-wide Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) play an important role in defining what it means to be a connectional church in the 21st century, bringing together the diversity of the PC (USA) to focus and take faith-based action on shared concerns. The Special Offerings offer opportunities for partnership, learning, and witness and they profoundly affect the life of the church as a collective witness to Jesus Christ’s love for the whole church.
One Great Hour of Sharing
Serve the “least of these” among us by providing relief to those affected by catastrophic events, giving sustainable food resources to the hungry, and changing the structures that perpetuate poverty, oppression, and injustice.
This offering is divided between Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People Programs.
Pentecost Offering
The Pentecost Offering unites us in a church-wide effort to support young people and inspire them to share their faith, ideas, and unique gifts with the church and the world.
This gift is dedicated to support faith building opportunities for our youth, young adults and children at-risk. Our congregation donates our portion of this offering to Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services.
Peace & Global Witness Offering
This offering provides tools and resources for the Church as we join together as active peacemakers at all times in all ways, like the reconciliation work in South Sudan, international advocacy at the UN, or a peace camp for kids in New Jersey.
Through the Peace & Global Witness Offering, congregations are encouraged and equipped to find and address the anxiety and discord that is prevalent throughout this broken and sinful world.
Our congregation’s portion for 2023 was given to our local Plano African American Museum in support of their mission to educate and tell the story of fortitude and endurance of African Americans in their search for freedom.
Christmas Joy Offering
God has blessed the Church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well.
This Offering addresses the support needed by some of our leaders, including supporting leadership development for communities of color, and providing support for Presbyterian church workers in their time of need.
