Did you know that there are more Presbyterians in Korea than here in the US?

When President Yoon of South Korea came to visit the White House and addressed the congress this past week, to strengthen our historic alliance and our partnership, what stood out to me was his reference to two missionaries Rev Dr Horace Underwood (Presbyterian) and Rev Dr Henry Appenzeller (Methodist) who came to Korea in 1884 and transformed educational institutions and built hospitals that serve the people, transforming a nation. Among the historic political and economic ties with US, missionaries were mentioned. There is more to this story of course, not just for the purpose of strengthening our ties.

I invite you to come to worship this Sunday, where you will hear more about the missionaries and their impact in Korea where there are now more than ten million Presbyterians!
